Homemade Beauty DIYs
Spring is upon us and this is a season usually associated with a deep cleaning of your home and closet. But why limit your cleaning to just your living space? There are many benefits for cleaning out some products that you use on a daily basis as well. A lot of the products we use from deodorant to shampoo have so many harsh chemicals that can be harmful after long-term use. While “spring cleaning” this year, try swapping out some of your products with these easy DIY beauty recipes.
Lemon Juice Deodorant
The temperature is rising and body odor concerns are as well. Antiperspirants and deodorants can have harmful chemicals like aluminum and other toxins. It also prevents the body from purging toxins under the armpits that can clog lymph nodes and can lead to cancer. Instead of using a store-bought deodorant, try using freshly squeezed lemon juice instead. Simply rub the lemon juice on to your hands and apply it to your armpits. It dries pretty quickly and will keep you smelling fresh all day long.
Baking Soda Shampoo
Need an effective, cheap and sulfate-free way to get your hair squeaky clean? Try substituting your normal shampoo with a homemade baking soda shampoo. Simply mix one tablespoon of baking soda with one cup of water into a bottle. Shake the bottle before using, apply to and massage through hair and then rinse! It is that easy, and your hair will be amazingly clean.
Avocado, Egg and Olive Oil Hair Mask
If your hair has been dry, brittle and in need of some TLC, then look no further. This avocado and egg hair mask will rehydrate your hair and keep it moisturized and shiny. Mix an avocado with one egg and one teaspoon of olive oil. Apply it to your clean hair and let it sit for about 20 minutes. Rinse it out completely. You hair will be left very soft. As long as you’ve rinsed it thoroughly there will be no smell left behind.
Honey and Coconut Oil Skin Cleanser
You can also make your very own skin cleanser with ease. This face wash recipe is sensitive skin friendly as well. Mix three tablespoons of coconut oil with one teaspoon of honey and one teaspoon of baking soda. While the mixture may harden when it is stored, it will melt when applied to your face. The coconut oil will remove all dirt from your makeup. The honey heals the skin. The baking soda acts as an exfoliator. It will leave your skin clean and moisturized, without the added harsh chemicals.
