Cleaning Out Your Closet
While most people traditionally participate in spring cleaning, there is no rule that says you can't do it in the summer! Today marks the official start of summer and now is a great time to finally clean out your closet.
Whether it’s because you want to make room for new purchases (Fall will be here before we know it) or you’re tired of using your nightstand to store jeans and need more space. Everyone’s closet needs a fresh start every now and then.
Here are a few tips for cleaning out your closet. You know what they say, "A clean closet is a clear mind" or something like that.
1. The One-Year Rule
If you haven’t worn a piece of clothing in a year, then it’s time to kick it out of your closet. If you didn’t even remember it was in your closet or kept passing it up for another outfit in the past year, then why do you still need it? Let it go...Let it go.
- Does It Still Fit?
If it’s been awhile since you last tried on your favorite pair of jeans, now may be a good time. Don’t hold on to clothes that you may have outgrown or don’t like how they fit on you anymore. Before you toss or keep any clothes, try them on first.
- Get Organized
Sometimes all you may need is a little organization. You can save some precious closet space by using these slimline hangers or over the door shoe organizers. For more useful storage items, check out the container store.
- Always Give Back
So now you have a whole pile of clothes and you’re not sure what to do with it all. This is an amazing opportunity to give back to your community by donating these items. Please refrain from donating items that are not in good shape. Click here for places to donate.
