Your name and the work you do?
My name is Emily Scott and I'm a florist! I create floral art.
What do you spend most of your Sunday doing?
My Sundays are usually spent decompressing at home, on the couch watching shows with my boyfriend & kitty. We order our favorite smash burgers, bundle up and rest before the busy week ahead.
A morning run, gym session or yoga?
A morning yoga session, followed by weight lifting! I did a lot of yoga during college & its the best way to get warmed up before a heavy lifting session.
Tell us about something in your life you’re most proud of?
I'm incredibly proud of the company I've built. I had dreams of this 10 years ago, but had no clue how i'd get here. Over the years I've learned what not to do, how not to structure my business, so now its really rewarding when I see my employees love the culture we've established and even more rewarding when my clients allow me creative freedom and love what I create.
What would you tell your 18 year old self?
Keep going, dont listen to naysayers, don't second guess yourself and don't spend all your money on food. Lol
Dreamed holiday?
6 months island hopping from Thailand to New Zealand. Alternating between boats & seaplanes to get from spot to spot, but taking my sweet time to see a new beach every day & truly unplug from my life here in NYC.
How do you find a sense of calm in the midst of chaos?
Music. There's nothing like turning up the volume & just vibing, whether that means dancing or singing, but that always cheers me up and makes my struggles seem less intimidating.
If you could be anything else in life what would you be?
Jeff Bezo's ex wife. Honestly, I do not dream of working so I'd love to be a philanthropist with an unlimited budget.
What’s something the world could care a little more about?
Black Women. Once society really grasps the concept of intersectional feminism, a lot of the world's problems would go away.
What’s Your ideal Friday Night ritual?
Glam up while drinking a glass of wine from 5-7pm, then head to a spot with live music. Dance a bit, eat something delicious, chit chat with my girls, then be home by 9:30pm. Shower, do my skincare and snuggle up with my boo by 10pm so I can be asleep early enough for yoga the next morning.
If you had 10 minutes to pack to your dream Destination… Where are you going and what are you packing?
We're going to Fiji, I'm packing sunblock, my drawer full of bikinis, gold hoop earrings and the Neme Midi Dress.
Emily is wearing the Ilo Robe and the Aiko Sarong from Andrea Iyamah.
Enjoy…
