'CREATION' by Milena Saraiva - TREASURE SOUNDS VOL. III

Our creative exploration for Treasure Sounds continues with the playlist 'Creation', curated by Brazilian Artist Milenna Saraiva. Born in Brazil and based in São Paolo, Milenna's creative spirit is fully powered by art: “art is the language of my thoughts, I find it easier to paint than to use words”. Her work, which has transformed from pencil drawings to textured canvases with incredibly rich colored layers and sentiment, is the result of an extensive self exploration journey. 

She explores the construction and deconstruction of identity and social values through her most recent portraits filled with raw emotion. Her work has been exposed globally in The Los Angeles. Municipal Art Gallery, The Peach Gallery in Toronto, Tom Cox Gallery in London and Galeria Alma da Rua in São Paolo, to name a few.

What's your name and the work you do? 

My name is Milenna Saraiva, I’m an artist, a painter, based in São Paulo, Brazil.  Drawing upon raw emotion, I delve into my subconscious to harness and synthesize the process for recasting conventions of figurative and mural painting, through a deliberate pursuit toward abstraction. Relying principally on the free-flowing processes of memory and creative imagination, I pursue the objective of creating a portal to the inner journey of self-exploration. 

My ideal Sunday is one where I can rest and decompress from the week. I always go for a run outside. Then I like to spend sometime in the sun with my cat, eat a late lunch and watch some movies and series. When it’s rainy I really enjoy going to museums. 

Painting is my escape from all the noise and chaos of the external world. It’s my job, so it can be stressful and demanding at times. But it’s also like meditation for me. Painting quiets my thoughts and answers all my questions. 

Nature! Most haven’t realized yet that everything is connected. We are part of nature and destroying it, is destroying us. 

I'd go to Egypt and bring with me the Sana maxi dress, the Shanti nude Romper the Salama Lilac bikini to name a few.
